The presenter will share an idea how to explore ESP students’ English skills by conducting a program “English Talent Competition”. As many ESP teachers have known that it is not easy to motivate non-English departments’ students to learn and improve English because of many reasons. The writer as a chief of language center always tries to find and make special programs for ESP students in her university such as English Learning Day, Video Field Trip, Debate Forum, English Community, etc., besides her main duty to give English certifications. English Talent Competition has been conducted for three years. The English talents that to be competed can be changed every year depending on the skills concerned. The first in 2014 were about ESP presentation, stand-up comedy, reading news, and speech, while the second and the the third about ESP presentation, speech, reading news and singing English songs. The result was very amazing because more than 20% of ESP students followed and supported those competitions.
